Hello Friends,
I need to create a break out view.
I followed the help file without success.
First six steps of help file from breakout section view I was able to do.
Seventh step says "select break line near start"
(I saw it considers only splines created by through points or By poles in help.)
Although I created spline as per the instructions in help, it is not possible to select the spline.
How would I proceed further to sucessfully create a break out view.
I f someone explains the steps in detail I would be thankfull.
Regards
Ravi Shankar

If you select the spline as your base point (step 1), it will not be availible to use as your breakline. Make sure you select different geometry as your base point.

Also, make sure the layer containing the spline is set to either "work" or "selectable", not "visible".

Hi Ravi shankar,
Creation of Break-out section:
1. Select the view.
2. Use MB3 and go to Expand view.
3. Draw a closed profile, that will acts as a breakout section breaK LINE in the area where you want.
4. Come out of Expand.
5. Click Break-out Section AND SELECT THE VIEW.
6. Specify the base point.Usually this point is given in another view. The logic behind this is that, for the creation of break-out section, the software extrudes the section that you have drawn in the Expand view. So the base point is the start point of the extrusion. For eg. you want to show a break-out section of a hole.In this case the base point will be the hole center, which is visible in the other view.
7. Give the proper direction.(Extrusion direction).
8. Select the break line.
9. Give accept.
That's all your break-out section is ready.

Hi EnggCodes,
Thanks for your mail. I tried myself to reaslise the need earlier itself after a bit of struggle. However your explanation is correct and would help someone else for sure, who needs to do the same.

Ravi

The spline you created and wanted to use in break out view needs to be view dependent, so make the spline in modelling (or just toggle of the drawing in drafting) and get i visible in the wanted view, the use view dependent edit and convert the spline to view dependent.

Try the break out view and now you can pick the spline you wanted.
