How to size the conductor & breaker for group of motors/mixed loads using IEC standards. (for example in NEC, the article 430.24 & 430.62 is used); I did a google search and all I could find is to use a type -2 co-ordination chart for single motors and I could not find anything for breaker sizing of feeders.

Thanks!

Hi Nick,

We size the conductors so that they are protected from overload and short circuit by the breakers feeding them. We then size the breakers so that they can start/run the loads.

I'm not aware of any rules in IEC that are as prescriptive as NEC 430.24 & 430.62.

The usage of Type 2 coordination is not a requirement, It is very common though.

I am aware that I have probably not answered your question. Feel free to hit back with some more detail and I will try to answer as best I can. But I suspect others may provide better answers in the mean time :) .
