Hi all,

I am currently in the market for a breaker timing test set. Does anybody have any experience with the kocos actas circuit breaker test set? I have seen them advertising frequently recently, and I asked some of the breaker manufacturers who they use, and they all seem to be using the Kocos actas test sets. they all like them too. they have one instrument that can test a breaker with both sides grounded. sounded really interesting. I never heard of them until recently but I wanted to see what people thought of it.

I have used doble, and vanguard, but not programma.

thanks.

my opinion: kocos actas may be called a portable set up, but it takes quite a bit of equipment. another issue is that it is complex and not as easy, as the others mentioned, to learn. it can perform a dynamic resistance, which i think is very helpful from a field perspective especially on a cap bank or reactor. the good thing is that you own the equipment and don't rent it.

are you a testing group, maintenance utility group, or manufacturer? in field testing, i have not seen an issue come from a travel trace, but i have seen many questions come from contact times. i think the simpler the better. it's not a question of the right test set up, its a question of which one will give you the right data and not necessarily more data.
