breaking pointers in drawings 1

Hi all,
I wanted to know if there was a way in which after i get the view i want from a drawing then, i want to break the pointer of the model to the drawing so that if i update the model then the drawing does not get updated.Basically in a nutshell i want to break the bi-directional associativity of the drawing.

What you want is a detached drawing. Do a help search for "detached drawing".

When installing SolidWorks, you are given the option to prevents changes in dimensions in drawings from affecting part or assembly models. Although I don't remember seeing this during the SW08 install.
Can anyone confirm that option still exists?

The drawings could also be set to Read Only.

Both of those options however, can be easily reset to be associative. Probably the safest and permanent way is to save the drawing to eDrawing, PDF, DWG or DXF format.

I agree with CBL's suggestion of using eDrawings or some other format. This is particularly useful if you have PLM and want to keep its activities separate from the actual source files in SolidWorks.

We make PDF copies of released drawings. PDF's are for the general public. SW files are treated the way one would treat a photo negative or silk screen, only for use by those qualified to use.

hi all,
I have solidworks 2007 on my system and i dont see routing as one of the toolbars neither can i find anything about it in the help files. i was looking up whats new in in the help files of 2007 and it says that it has routing as one of its features. can anyone help me find the routing toolbar or is it a seperate add-in which i have to download coz i dont have it in my default add-ins.
