Hi,

Have a look at the video that show the number of clicks increases in NX8.5 to create a sample bridge between a curve and a point [evil]

It's a sample example. Does someone tried to use bridge curve in NX8.5 ?

Where is the enhancemnt ?

Two extra picks the first time. And if you were going to do that same thing next time, only one extra pick.

Or you could set the 'Start Object' to 'Object' and the 'End Object' to 'Section' and reverse the order of picking, Point first and then the Curve, and you'd have the SAME number of clicks.

Hi John,

OK, I already found that we could reverse the order of picking but in NX8, we didn't no think about the order

One question: is there a setting to automatic progression if we don't want to select more entities for start

And what about the problem when I reverse direction inside the menu => the bridge start at the other end ?

Well you asked about what were the 'enhancements' that we made in NX 8.5. Prior to NX 8.5 the 'section' curve was limited to a single curve, while in NX 8.5 the section can be a 'string' of curves or edges. Try this. After creating your Bridge Curve as in your example, create a second point ant then using it create a new Bridge Curve selecting the end of first Bridge curve and while you still in the preview mode try selecting and 'sliding' the point where the bridge curve joined the other curve along the length of the original spline/bridge curve combination. In NX 8.0 you will NOT be able to slide that point past the original junction between the Spline and Bridge Curve, but in NX 8.5 you'll be able to 'slide' that point to full length of BOTH curves. You will notice that in NX 8.5 when you select a 'Segment' that the 'Selection Intent' or 'Curve Rule' item appears on Selection Bar allowing you to define the 'rule' that will be used to select the 'string' of curve, just line when you're adding a Blend to the edge of a solid. Anyway, when we allow you to use a string of curves instead of just one we have no way of knowing when you done selecting curves for your 'section' until you indicate to us that you're done picking so it will now require an extra click, either pressing MB2 to indicate that want to 'move onto the next step' or you explicitly pick the 'End Object' menu. This standard throughout NX when a selection step can consist of more than one selection, you have to provide some 'signal' that you're ready to move to the next step.

I think you will agree that being able to use string curves or edge as the 'segment' is a very powerful capability.

Hi John,

I apologize for being so negative when I say: Where is the enhancement ?

I fact It was my first migration training from NX7 to NX8.5 and I discovered this new interface at the same time that my client. In fact nothing is explained in the what's new in NX8.5 about bridge curve. So I will open an IR about the documentation.

I've had my client grievances directly without arguments.

After some tests, I agree with the enhancement.

I think I remember there was a setting to move directly to the second question. Does it exist forever?

That option is provided with some dialogs, like the new Sketcher 'Geometric Constraints' dialog, but it's done on a case-by-case basis. So if you don't see an 'Automat Selection Progression' in the 'Settings' section of the dialog, then that feature is not available with that function:
