Hi everyone. I've been trying to apply loads to 15m span, 11m wide bridge. I've defined my notional loads and have HA and HB loads to apply on the lanes. My question is that is it possible to select a notional lane and then apply a uniformly distributed load - for instance - on it. I only see options for vehicle class loads one can apply to lanes.

Sorry i meant i've defined my notional lanes not loads. Is there an edit button on this page?

One way is to define a new vehicle, give it a a udl, then assign this vehicle to a vehicle class. Then in the moving load dialog box you add your new vehicle class.

However I am worried that SAP2000 does not apply the British loading correctly. It appears to me that SAP2000 gives HA and HB loading in accordance with BS5400 Part2 1978, and not the later BD37/01 (issued in 2001) and BS5400 Part2 2006. The cut off is shown as 30kN/m whereas the new loading has no cut off. Also the application of vehicles straddling lanes is different.

Does anyone on here have any vies on this as the new loading is much higher than the old loading?

Thanks for the reply, is there any way to actually see the position of the HB loads applied to notional lanes. Just so one actually check the lengths between axle loads.
