look, it was funny when you tried to hide all of the transform functions in 7.5 so that we all had to use the move upgrade....but then we found that all you had to do is hit the transform button, click what you wanted to move then hit your center mouse button 3 times and it all came back....GREAT TRICK!

but taking it completely out in 8.5? are you trying to stop proficiency and make all of us dislike your system?

transform is very useful for those of us who need to manipulate solid model

Scaling is quite useful on a temporary basis for castings that are not modeled with shrink factor built in - take the finished casting, scale it, export it and now the mold maker has a scaled casting from which he can cut the molds. I used to use the command all the time.

Yes, like it or not, CTE (thus scale) is an intregral part of many engineering processes.

Based on the last several posts, I hope that it's becoming apparent that despite the fact that this issue has generated a lot of comments and responses, that in the end NO functionality has actually been lost. The changes that were made was simply part of the evolution of NX as many of these 'operators' were upgraded first to be Parametric, in that they created editable features (optional in many cases) as well as to adhere to the new block-style dialog design, introduced in NX 5.0.

It was nice to have it under one dialog that us long time users were used to, but thats what customization is for.

Well now you can created a custom Ribbon tab and collect all of your favorite, and now independent/explicit, functions where they all can be quickly found.

Like so... It's very easy to do. Customizing the toolbars or I guess I should be referring them as Ribbon bars has never been easier in the 15 years or so I've been using the software

To add to the discussion.

In some instances we have not lost functionality, but we have lost performance.
We regularly use the scale function when creating windtunnel models that are scaled down versions of full size geometry.
We do not want/need a parmetric link between these parts due to the speed of changes and the overhead of trying to manage the parametricity (long story and off topic)
The old transform function allows us to create scale functions that are non parametric in 1 step.
The scale function however has no non-parametric option and therefore takes a long time to create parametric scales (our parts are sheet based and have 100's of sheets)which we then have to remove prameters.

The other issue I have with the parametric 'transform' functions is that as far as I'm aware curves can't be paramterically 'transformed' so we have to use workarounds (like extruding the curve to allow us to move it).

The scale function has no option to scale curves at all so once again we have to use a workaround.

To a Designer, the glass was right on CAD.

Scaling curves is the one reason I keep the "legacy" Transform icon on my toolbar.
