I am building a gravel road and need to find out what is needed as far as type of base, etc. Road has limited use and is for passenger vehicle only (private driveway).

For light traffic, not much need to provide specific base provided the subgrade materials are competent. Gravel will work its way into the subgrade with time and add stability. Replenish surface gravel or re-dress as necessary.

To prevent rutting and eliminate the problem of soft
subgrades you can use geo-webb. This material is staked
out, and your gravel is used for the in-fill. This method
will also provide retention area for rain fall and still
provide the stability. NEC,
