Hello all,
Does anyone know good technical references for building relocation? We have a project where we need to move an historic (wood structure)building and I don’t want to miss something. Thanks!

You really should talk with a few contractors who specialize in bldg. moving. Given their experience, they will know far better than you, what they need to do. They may actually tell you some things you must do to prep. the bldg. And, you mostly just oversee that part of the project. You should inspect the bldg., and document its current condition and you may then know of a few special structural conditions which they should pay special attention to. But, otherwise, the lifting and moving process is pretty highly dependent upon the equipment and materials they have in their system and stock pile, so let them handle that part of the project. With their guidance as to how they will move the bldg. onto the new site and foundation, you, of course, design the new foundation. And, make a final inspection when the bldg. is down on the found. for final condition, and any damage. Many of those outfits can do a really good job, without even spilling a full glass of wine left on the kitchen table during the move.
