Bulk Items for Solid Part Files in Creo 3.0

Hi,

I have a question regarding the use of bulk items in Creo 3.0. I know that bulk items can be used in assemblies to create a more accurate BOM, but is there a way to somehow associate bulk items with part files? For example, if I have a part that requires a certain type of paint or varnish for finishing, how would I show that on a BOM for an individual part? I'm hoping to avoid having to create assemblies for each part just for the sake of using bulk items.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

It does become an assembly at that point since you are combining 2 'components to make the final part.
I would model the raw part file, then bring it and the finish bulk item material into an assembly. Bring the assembly into your drawing and only produce the single drawing. Since I dislike the fact that you can have the same part number for a part, assembly and drawing, I would use a -01 for the part file and the base number for the assembly and drawing.

What do you do if you have multiple options on the finish of a part? Copy the assembly and drawing or make an assembly family table and put a chart on the drawing for the finish options?

I thought I might have to go the assembly route, but I was hoping I was missing something. I haven't come across any parts that have multiple options for finishes yet. However, I would probably take the assembly family table route and use a chart like you said.
