Burning crude oil in conventional boilers

I have just become involved in a conventional power project for which the main fuel will be crude oil.

The last time I was involved in a similar project was back in 1986 and I seem to remember that there were some general rules like the following.

1. Oil storage tanks to be of the floating roof type.
2. Fuel oil pipes should not be trace heated although storgae tanks can have outflow heaters.
3. Velocity of oil in fuel oil pipes should not exceed 1m/s.
4. Oil burners should be air not steam atomised.

Does anyone have any comments that may be useful to me.

Is this project a conversion project of an existing boiler or is this a new power boiler that will burn crude oil?
