Hi, Am a newcomer to the site and looking for assistance - Have a food grade application wherein both a bush and the sleeve turning within need to be a plastic.
Someone suggested to make both of Delrin, but another suggestion was it may wear faster due to both being of same materials. Can you please suggest a good combination
of food grade plastics for a bush-roller combination. We tried SS304 for the roller and Delrin for the bush.. but the SS roller seems to abrade faster than anticipated.
(the bush is about 50 mm dia and bore of 40 mm, and roller rpm is aboout 300).

Is it a machined part (very low volume) or injection moulded (high volume)?

It's ok to soar like an eagle, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Hi Pud, It is machined part with low volumes.

Surface finish will be important, as well as not exceeding PV values for the material.

It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.

You might try Delrin as one material and HDPE as the other. An option is to add a solid lubricant to one or both materials.

Have a look at data for PEEK - it's not cheap but it's an excellent bearing material.

Acetal and a polyester are often run together (mainly for gears as they are quiet in combination).

Oh, and as orneryorsk noted - you need to determine the PV values and assume the given values are optimistic!

Thank you all. Let me try some of the suggestions out this week and revert.
