I've been looking for a manual that was written by James Fisher and Butler Buildings. The manual is called "Foundation Design & Construction Manual 2nd ed. 1984"
Does anyone know how I can get a copy of this manual or is there anyone willing to sell their copy?
I've got a project that I'm working on currently that requires the use of tension ties versus hairpins as there is no concrete slab being poured and I'd really like a little more direction on the best methods for sizing these tension ties.
Thanks for your help.

Contact a local Butler Builder (an approved Butler Manufacturing Company dealer) and ask them to order you a copy. Butler has an unknown number of copies available that they sell for about $ 15 to their dealers. Note this book was written with ACI 318-83.

The dealer will have to look for this book on Butler's private web site and then order it thru Butler's literature sales department.

You are looking at 200+ pages if you want to copy it.

Thanks Jim.
I did already try that and they told me that they couldn't sell it as it was out of date.
If I could find someone with a copy I'd be more than happy to pay them for a full copy.

May be you can post a sketch and we can see if there is another way to solve it.

I have ordered a copy. The price will be $ 31.60 plus postage for shipping. I have not received confimation that they will be shipping the manual. When I get that confirmation we can figure out how to make the transfer.

Jim - thanks a bunch. Just let me know when you get it and like you said, we will work out something to make the transfer.
Thank you - Cory

I just got an invitation to a Webinar on June 12th by ASCE on Metal Building Foundations. It's taught by Alexander Newman who has written a book on Metal Building Design. I've attended some of his webinars and he's pretty good.
I realize it's expensive, but maybe if you sign up for the webinar, you could specifically ask about your issue. Plus he would mention if his book addresses it.

I also attended a webinar given by Alexander Newman on PreEngineered Metal Building Foundations and he said he was going to write a book on PEMB foundations. I haven't seen any further information on his foundation book but I don't think Metal Building Book address tension ties specifically. I would recommend his webinars or seminars and I hope he does write the foundation book.
