I'm wondering about the differences in the internal stress levels in these two materials. I have always understood that cold rolled material had more internal stress than hot rolled. I have to design a part that will 46" long 6.5" wide and 1.5" thick and will have a male dovetail machined the entire length. I want to minimize post machining distortion. I'm not sold on either material but just looking for suggestions.
