I have a very complicated cable shape in Unigraphics NX5
The shape (solid body) is unparametric (imported from parasolid). Is there any way I can recreate the original center spline of cable ?

Extract iso-parametric curves as your starting construction geometry and if they are good enough to be usable then you should be able to interpolate the centreline with a little effort.

Or you could just use the attached NX Open program (courtesy of my friend from OZ) to create a new centerline (the 'Length' item is for how much you wish the curve to extend beyond the ends of the 'cable').

hOW TO USE THE PROGRAM ?

First unzip and place the files in the folder that you have designated as your 'User Function Program Directory' in Customer Defaults -> Gateway -> General -> Directories...

Once the files are there, go to...

File -> Execute -> NX Open...

...and select the 'Cable_centerline1.dll' file and hit OK and then just do what the program prompts you to do.

Well, I can not figure out where to put the files

Well then just put them anywhere and when you run...

File -> Execute -> NX Open...[/]

...just browse to wherever you placed them and select the .dll file.
