Does anyone know what the IEC requirements are concerning the use of earthing tags on cable glands. Are they to be used in non-metallic enclosures or on medium and high voltage cables entering panels? Do they have to be used at all?

Hi

IEC60364 (BS7671 Requirements For Electrical Installations) requires that the metallic sheaths of cables are earthed, brass gland tags are the usual means of achieving this and ensuring that cable sheaths / armours are solidly earthed.

IEC364 does not apply to medium voltage.

Are you in the UK ?

No. My company has a project in South Africa. Although I could not find any such mandate in SA, I now have the IEC cross reference I needed. Thanks for all your great help.
