I have a LV chiller of 530 KW(LoAD Amps-1049 A)..I did the cable sizing and am planning to use Single core 400 sq.mm cables(3 Runs per Phase) for this chiller .I used a derating factor of 0.699.Guys, do think Single core 400 would suffice for this chiller..?(From experience..)?

Usually all chillers above 100 kW have multi-stage compressors designed for sequential start with a time delay
of 1 to 3 minutes. The motor starter is soft started-or similar-in order to limit the start current.
The cable conductor cross section depends on continuous load but also on voltage drop. NEC-for instance-limits
the total voltage drop to 5%.At chiller start you have to check if the voltage drop at all consumer supplied from the same source the voltage stays in the permissible limits. The maximum voltage drop permissible at chiller terminal while in start process shall stay in the limits recommended by chiller supplier.
