Caculations for evaporator and condensor tube lengths? 1

Hello everyone,

I am fairly new to the field, and helping with the design of the refrigeration for freezers used for commercial use. These are fairly simple freezers and not large at all. Basically used in corner stores throughout North America to freeze ice cream.
What my problem is, I’m guessing at the evaporator and condenser lengths and adjusting accordingly. This obviously takes time, and I was wondering what the calculations would be to properly figure out these lengths accurately? Where could I locate this information, and is there any software available for it as well?

What type of exchangers are you using...aluminum fin with copper tube or something else? Please let me know more, and we'll see if I have anything to offer.

The evaporator is wrapped around the inside wall of the freezer box. And the condenser is wrapped around the outside wall. The unit is then foamed. I am using 1/ 4” x .028” copper for the evaporator, and 3/16” x .028” copper for the condenser.

The units are fairly simple. The refrigerant (R-134a) starts off in the compressor moves to the condenser (3/16”), then to a filter dryer, where it then passes through a cap-tube (.031”) and into the evaporator (1/ 4”), then back into the compressor.

Any help in figuring out the evaporator and condenser lengths would be appreciated.

Well, let me explain my last response a little more. I am uncertain by what you are discussing when you say "foamed".

Also, are you not using any fan to move the air? If you are using a fan, what's the CFM/FPM?

When you say wrapped around the inside and outside wall...are you discussing a wrapped coil of tubes around all the walls of the enclosure or a back and forth "Z" type movement along one wall?

Anyway, there just seems to be many questions that would need to be answered before I could offer any type of legitmate help.
