calculating damage??? 2

Hello there, I am very new to all this but i'd really appreciate some help. I'm required to find out about "miners eqation" in order to complete a set of problems for a new job. I graduated last july and i now live too far away from my university to use their library and access the text books. I gather so far that its used for calculating damage, but i'm a bit clueless on this area. So if anyone knows anything on the subject please reply
