My employer would like me to try and calculate out if a new floor mount jib crane would overload the floor. I'm a junior engineer and haven't done more than simple beam calculations. Here's my problem:
I'm assuming / deriving loads from various equipment in the area and simplifying as many calculations as I can. I've simplified it basically down to a section of floor loading a beam. My problem is that when you look at a cross section of the composite beam - structural steel/concrete/reinforcing rods and formwork, I'm not sure how or if I should include the formwork. (Metal Deck - like cladding) in my calculations.
Does anyone know a good book / website that will help.
