California Existing Building Code (CEBC) A108.2 - Masonry Shear Strength Typo?

2019 CEBC equation for masonry shear strength appears to be missing a '+' sign in the equation when compared to the 2016 CEBC. When I plug in the masonry test values and corresponding dead loads, I get vastly different results between the two. The 2019 CEBC (and 2022 CEBC is the same) shows a capacity that is almost 10 times that of 2016. Am I missing something in this equation?

test value: 30psi for minimum
P/A: 17psi

2016 CEBC
(This number is divided by 1.5 later on to get the shear capacity)

Just taking a look at the units it seems they no longer match as they did before.

We've had great experiences calling the California Building Commission to inquire about typos / clarify clauses. Their phone number goes directly to a real person and they've typically been able to answer questions on the spot, otherwise they follow-up within a day by email. I'd advise giving them a call for a quick resolution directly from the source. Contact info here:
Hope that helps!

Thanks Laurent! I contacted them and it is indeed a typo:

"Thank you for contacting the California Building Standards Commission (CBSC) with your inquiry about Section A108.2 of the California Existing Building Code (Part 10, Title 24, California Code of Regulations). CBSC administers the development, adoption, and publication of Title 24, which is then enforced at the local level by city and county building departments that sometimes enact additional standards via ordinance. The error that you identified has been addressed by the International Code Council (ICC) as an errata to the 2021 International Existing Building Code (upon which the Part 10 CEBC is based), which may be viewed on the ICC Errata Central webpage (also see screenshot below). Additionally, it will be corrected in the 2022 California Existing Building Code when the intervening supplement is published January 1, 2024."
