I know the measurements of the brass liners or rings that are used in the mod cal sampler. The typical liner is brass or steel and the OD is 2.5" ID 2.42 (thin wall) ID 2.375" (thick wall). The thin wall is the most used and the OD is consistent while the ID ranges from 2.4 to 2.43". Years ago some consultants such as Cooper Clark and Dames and Moore used 1"x2.5" rings. The rings are especially nice for the lab since they can cut out a one inch section and use it for direct shear, consolidation etc. In California many of the machines take the 2.5" rings so that the soil never has to be extruded from the ring. This helps greatly in many ways. I can't help you as far as blow counts etc, just testing. Hope this helps.

I'm more interested in the exact specifications for the actual sampler, but thanks anyway.
