California PE Application: "Level Of Responsibility" and Referencing Standards

Hey There Everyone,

I passed the 8-hour recently and am working on filling out the application (California), I have a couple questions I'm hoping some of you could be able to clarify.

First, part of each engagement is "Level of Responsibility", I'm not sure what it is asking for here. Should I just simply state that I was working under a licensed engineer? Or should I go more into detail with the level that they were checking/trusting my work as I continued to grow in my competency.

Second, for the "Description of Engineering Decisions Made" should I be including which design standards were used? For instance, when talking about designing reinforcement for precast concrete panels should I say something simple like "Evaluate placement of reinforcement in concrete panel based on varying geometry"? or should it start with "Evaluate placement of reinforcement in concrete panel per ACI-318". The latter feels wordier and eats away at the allowable character count. So I don't want to waste space in my experience if the board does not want to see it presented like this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Going through the same challenge, isn't it fun.

For level of responsibility, I stated entry-level, project engineer, project manager, etc. Use what role you filled for the time at that job.

For description of engineering decisions made, what did you recommend? Did you decide that a drop inlet would be better than a side open inlet? Would a round-about be better than a signalized intersection? Things like that got my approval with them.

Surveying exam next week! Wish me luck! Dreading the seismic portion [flush]

For my successful application I had the following for decisions made. It's a bit sparse but it worked. I had more detail in the "Description of Engineering Tasks & Duties" portion. I also had references that were able to verify these decisions.
Decisions made include:
Selection of design strengths for dam safety modifications (Mohr Coulomb, non-linear, and Hoek-Brown)
Evaluation of slope stability for appropriate slope grade and materials.
Evaluation of placement and compaction methods for construction specifications
Type, location, and size of dam and spillway drainage
Filter gradation and type for dams and embankments

I passed the Seismic test last November and just have the surveying exam in three weeks. I can't wait for this to be over.
