Can anyone reccomend a good intrinsically safe camera rated for use in a Class 1 Div 1 area?

We are currently using the Bartec Gravity X cameras and are not happy with them. Picture quality is not great and durability of the cameras is very poor. We have also looked into the P-F Smart-Ex cameras, but my counterpart at one of our other facilities is using these and has similar complaints about the picture quality. Google searches seem put these as the two best options available.

Does anyone know of other Class 1 Div 1 rated cameras that might be able to give us better picture quality? Any recommendations are appreciated.

Have you looked at a "intrinsically safe iPhone case"? Expensive, but very convenient.

Good luck,
Latexman

To a ChE, the glass is always full - 1/2 air and 1/2 water.

remqnf,
Your best bet is to ask the Safety Manager at the facility you are going into.
What ever you get, you will need to have it inspected and passed by that Safety Manager.

Sometimes its possible to do all the right things and still get bad results

Latexman, we have not looked into phone cases yet, but that might be the next step. It will probably be difficult to get approval for those, given our facilities strict no phones rule.

Pennpiper, I have consulted with the safety department. They confirmed the Class 1, Div 1 requirement, but were not able recommend any vendors.

We use an Ex approved phone-camera from ecom instruments then brand is called sonim I would say that the quality of the picture is very dependant on the light. Outside it acceptable, indoors it often grainy and blurry.

Best regards, Morten
