Can pipes be used??

I wonder wether pipes can be used in Heat Exchangers(Boilers). Since pipes have got greater wall thickness than pipes, I guess they wont be efficient for heta transfer. But wat if pressure requirements r there??

What? Do you mean tubes and/or pipes?
Anyway, as far as pressure requirements are concerned, what makes the decision is the standard that rules out the construction: under ASME VIII both pipes and tubes are available, you need only to choose the specification. prex
