can we design wood/timber structure

can we design wood/timber structure with SAP2000? Since there are only concrete frame design (using ACI 318, etc) and steel frame design (using AISC360, etc)? if we can, then how? thanks

Well, you can analyze wood structures. You just have to enter in the material properties yourself. Then you build your model like any other. Apply your loads and get your analysis results. It's up to you to take those analysis results an make sure the members meet the code requirements (NDS?) for wood in your area.

thanks for your reply. i mean how can we check that the dimension of the wood is adequate to the load?

With hand calculations - spreadsheets - etc. As you have stated, SAP2000 can not design these members.
