Hello all!
I am trying to model soil structure interaction in ETABS for a G+9 RCC Framed Building with a single basement below ground level and Raft Foundation at the base. I am trying to employ Substructure Method for modeling of soil structure interaction and primarily basing my work on guidelines published by NIST (Soil-Structure Interaction for Building Structures) and FEMA (A Practical Guide to Soil Structure Interaction). Accordingly, I have calculated stiffnesses for 6 degrees of freedom for springs and dashpots to be modeled in ETABS. I am not quite sure how to incorporate these stiffnesses and dashpots values in ETABS. Below I have also attached a form in ETABS to define Spring Property Data. In the form, we can see that we can include spring stiffnesses in all 6 directions in a single spring. Is this the right way to do - applying all stiffnesses values to a single spring? And how do we define and model dashpot coefficients? Which springs should be modeled for basement walls and side walls of raft?? Should we include all 6 stiffnesses for springs below raft slab or for springs connected to basement walls?? Could anyone clarify me in detail or suggest any document?
