Does anyone know of a design example for a cantilevered roof deck? Simple beam anaysis does not seem right.
Also, I'm getting bogged down with the span factors for non cantilevered conditions
For example if I have a single span deck
why is the moment calc ( .125 (dl + ll)) L^2 ?

Last time I checked moments on a uniformly loaded simple beam were calculated as (wL^2)/8. Which can be rewritten as .125wL^2. w would be the dead load and live load added together. So the formula is correct. Do you agree?

I have not seen a calc on this, but vulcraft has a table that recommends maximum cantilever lengths for a non composite roof deck. They say to contact them if there are issues, so maybe contacting the manufacturer will give you more insight.

wow ... that's one fast moving (supersonic) deck !

See the SDI spec standard section 2.4.A.7 for the cantilever load definitions (which presumably are reflected in the table included in the spec). Not W x L^2/8.
