What is the equation for obtaining capacitance from volts and time etc. We haven't a meter to read our caps, so need a relible way to do so in a hurry?

Capacitance C(farads) can easily be determined in A.C. by measuring voltage V(volts) and current I(amperes) at a frequency f(Hertz). The formula is:
C = I/(Vx2xpixf)
For instance: 2 A at 240 V and 60 Hz give a capacitance of:
C = 2/(240x2xpix60) = 22'1 microfarads.

You should not perform the measurement method 230842 describes with line voltage. Line voltage contains a significant amount of harmonics which may give a reading of 50% more current for a given capacitance.
