We are about to get involved in designing services for a garage which will include a car wash facility..i.e. drive in, sit back and wait for the scrubbers to scrub and the driers to dry etc.

Has anyone got any typical water flow requirements. I understand they take a lot of water. Also do we need to soften and what pressure do we need.??

My guess is that they use a load of water and I think some recycle and other do not.

The garage owner hasn't made up his mind yet as to what to have....so we need to design for worst case and hope what we have allocated is sufficient for whatever he is going to install.

Wow

Thanks IMOK

Where do you get your info from

I didn't realsise car wash facilities involved so much

Are they all pretty much the same??

I note that the drg is showing underfloor heating---presumably you would only have that in really cold climates??

Tuck, I'm not that smart it's just that I enjoy doing research because I also learn alot about things I don't know much about.

Cheaper up-front costs for direct gas-fired heaters compared to in-floor system. You can maybe even get away with unit heaters.

Unless you're down South you'll want some kind of heat - they won't do much business in the winter without it.

I would add that after the Noroxo factory Legionella outbreak in France 2003, where the car wash tested positive for legionella and was closed down (athough that was most probably a cross infection from adjacent cooling tower).

And the current outbreak in Norway 2005 where an industrial scrubber has been implicated.

I would conduct a legionella risk assessment.
