Can anyone compare Detroit RWD V6/V8 (250-300hp) engines using a Carb (usually - older pre 1985) vs EFI(post 2000) on a HP per pound comparison ? Any thoughts on the power/weight for the complete drivetrain?

dgallup, the discussion centers on the POWER advantages of fuel injection vs carburetors. It is hard to compare pre '85 carbs to post 2000 EFI because the associated engines are so profoundly different. An obvious question would be what should you expect if you adapted a post 2000 EFI setup to a pre 1985 carbed engine, specifically, what would the power to weight comparison look like? The known advantages of carbs and FI come into play and are being discussed.

That's why I used the SBC used in the Corvette in my first post as the basic architecture barely changed in that period.

The OPs question was clear.

If you wish to change the question you really should start your own thread.

Pat, I notice that your responses are general and theoretical about the known advantages of FI vs carbs and some tangential, so were others. There are related issues that are mentioned. This is the way most discussions go. I think my posts have stuck strictly to the power advantages of carbs vs FI and the effect of weight in the caomparison.

Have you read the OP

Sure answers drift, but to suggest the OP asked the wrong question is a bit rude I think

Pat, who said the OP asked the wrong question? If you are suggesting I misinterpreted the OP, perhaps you are right, but now you are applying your misinterpretation to my posts.
Anyway, this exchange is definitely off topic.

No such suggestion and no such tone.

dgallop - the engine in the 2000 Vette is VERY different compared to the pre 97 model engines (the injectors and spark plugs might swap between them but that's about it).
