Hello I was looking to get some honest advice from anyone who may have been in a similar situation or just may have a better perspective. I am an applied physics student very interested in engineering and want a career in the engineering field after graduating and getting my bachelors. The only problem I see with a company hiring me is that I lack project experience. I was wondering if you guys think it would be a good idea to do some projects by myself. I have some ideas such as designing building and testing an RC plane, possibly designing different airfoils and testing/recording performance against one another. Another idea I want to try out is designing, manufacturing and building some sort of small hybrid jet engine such as an aerospike and just recording all my procedures, tests, and findings. Do you guys think this is a good idea and would be useful for landing an internship or job, or is this a waste of time? Thank you in advance!
Edit: Just wanted to include that I am currently more on the hunt for internships as I am a Junior and have about 1.5 years remaining before graduation. I also will be receiving a concentration in engineering.
