Casting a Composite material characterization

Hi Guys,

I currently investigating a casting procedure that the company i have been working for has had a lot of issues with. So I outfitted this with pressure transducers and load cells. I applied to load cells on the top and bottom of the cast, and pressure transducers on the OD of the cast. So essentially the finished product looks like a cylinder. The odd thing is though that I am getting a higher pressure reading on the radial transducer that the surface pressure. Is this possible? I understand each material has its own Poissons ratio, however can this happen?

Sorry, bad grammar. I've been getting higher pressure readings on the OD of the part as compared to the surface of the part. We are applying a pressure only to the top surface.

We here can't see your part, so it's hard for us to understand how the OD of a cylinder is distinct from its surface.

Could you perhaps attach a photo or drawing?
