How do folks! Here is my question to you. I know that you can import an Excel file into Catia, but is there a way to export Catia back into Excel?

I am sorry to ask, but why would you like to export the report to excel?...

My boss was wanting to know if it was possible.

There are literally tons of threads regarding this topic.

Yes, it is possible to some extent.

Okay, I will have to look into them and thanks for the information Little Cthulhu!

Okay, here is a more specific question regarding my thread here. If I have Catia related defined views from a CATPART or CATPRODUCT, is it possible to export that data from Catia to Excel? I understand that my tables will convert, but will my geometry convert as well?

How would you like to represent geometry in Excel? It's a spreadsheet processor application, not even an image viewer.

You can, however, export drawing sheet as image and insert it to Excel. Wil it suffice you?

Perhaps, but what I am trying to avoid is having to do double work if at all possible.

in being specific, we mean to fully define the need.

you said:
to export that data

what data? parameter? geometry? name of user? size of computer screen? expiration date of the license in use?

There are many things you can get from a CATIA/windows session...

The views, sections and details that have been generated from the model(s) over into Excel as pictures without having to create time consuming screenshots. Does this information help with more detail specific requirements that I'm asking for?

ok I would cycle through all sheets, in each sheet, make a list of all view in show. from that list I would put all view in no show, take first view, put in show, reframe on, screen grab, put picture in excel, put view in no show, proceed with next view...

saving as pdf would be easier if you can work with pdf...

Yes I agree, a PDF would be a whole lot easier. I just have to sell that to my boss.

Either way, both options are possible.

Come back once you find out what data and in what format needs to be exported.

Will do...thanks for the help!
