Hi,

I am trying to find out a low-cost way to convert Catia V5 files (.Catpart and .Catpart.CGR) to PDF.

If there any CATIA file viewer that allows printing?

Or any other suggestions appreciated

DM1 license from Dassault - this is DMU navigator and about $3000/system.
Adobe Lifecycle ES - not sure on the cost

What do you need your viewer to do? do you need to be on the latest version of software due to customer requirements?
How much Catia do you have? Have you looked at another product from Dassault called 3d composer?

Derek

We do not do any Catia file manipulation. We create User Manuals using Catia files that have already been created by our Client.

They give us the already created Catia files and we have to use them to create User Manuals.

We have Adobe licenses, but wants a low-cost solution to open Catia V5 files and print them to PDF.

We have not looked in to "DMU navigator" yet.

Are you familiar with Ghostscript? It's a no cost PDF writer.

I've used it in the past when I would print Pro/E files to PDF but Ghostscript requires a bit of a manual intervention.

There is another piece of freeware you can use called FreeDist which will automate the process.

Together they work well.

Hi,

You can ask your customer (if they agree) to send you 3DXML files coming from native CATIA files which can be open with the free 3DXML Viewer from Dassault (check
This is the easiest and safer way for them. CATIA has also a batch utility to convert files in 3DXML format. To print something from that viewer its also easy, there are a lot of solutions to do that (one of them its also free on DS website, its called 3DVIA Printscreen if I remember corectly...).
