CATIA Tubing xml file

Hi,

I am trying to define an XML file for the project management in tubing design but in vain. I have defined the env in the admin mode under CAT Discipline path. But when i goto tools ..project management...but i could find only the default project CNEXT. Please help me through!

Hi,

Nice to c ur reply after two days. I have defined the environment in the CAT Discipline path in the env. editor (admin mode ) the path to the project data folder which contains the xml file (s).
i have also ensured the avllty of RW in the xml file for tubing design. i have also set the access for the folder "project data " including the drive in which the files are available.

Should you need any other information pl let me know. thanks for your interest.

you need to create another project, don't use CNEXT. consult the help docs on how to do it.

Hi,

make the following checks

1. Your Catia start up icon [Target]| field value shall look like the following:

"C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\B20\intel_a\code\bin\CATSTART.exe" -run "CNEXT.exe" -env CATIA.V5R20.B20 -direnv "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\DassaultSystemes\CATEnv" -nowindow

ie the [direnv] parameter is set to existing directory and the [env] parameter is set to existing file in the direnv directory

2. Your CATIA.V5R20.B20.env file shall contain the line setting the parameter [CATDisciplinePath], ie shall look like the following:

CATDisciplinePath=C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\B20\intel_a\startup\EquipmentAndSystems\ProjectData

ie the full path where the Project files are located

3. In the CATDisciplinePath shall have at least one project xml type file and the relevant dtd type file (necessary for the right reading of the xml file)

With the above configuration and after you run the [Tools] > [Project Management] > [Select/Browse] command you shall be able to select your own project file, as happens with me.

you also need to copy existing files to a new folder, associated with that project. at least such is in the structure workbench.

which folder ? we have only one folder project data in which we keep the xml files . could you pl explain it ?

It is better to locate your customized environment in a location other than C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\B20\intel_a\startup\EquipmentAndSystems\ProjectData. If you install a higher level of CATIA, it is easy to wipe out your files. Use the environment launch file to set up the desired path to the new EquipmentandSystems directory. There are also declarations for the CATfct, Project management file locations, etc., etc.

We typically put this information on another server but is not necessary. We also heavily use DLNames in conjunction with system variables to make it easier to manage any future path and/or server changes. In addition, it is easier to send the environment to another facility location or to some of your subcontracting firms.
