Hello All,
When i program and post my contour cycle on an arc, it is not machined as required. Instead it machines poin to point on the arc leaving short flat sections as such. The links below are from a part which i programmed and machined. the first being a screenshots from Catia and the other of the actual part.

Any ideas or tips to prevent or rectify this?

Many thanks, Rudi.

Is the curve in the model smooth, or is it a point to point polyline?
If the curve is not smooth, you will have to adjust it.
If the curve is smooth, then you will need to look at Code Generator - APT C/L - Post Prossesor options on curves. There is usually an option to set the curve devition:
large deviation = larger distance point to point (flats), less code, faster run time

small deviation = small distance point to point (smoother), more code, longer run time

I run my deviation .0005 to .001 most of the time. If I have a large tool and surface tolerance is say +/-.01, then I would change it to .005 and generate less code and run faster at the CNC.

Is the arc's axis perpendicular to the spindle?
