Hey guys, I'm fairly new to Catia V5 and I am currently working on a pre-made assembly CATProduct file. I'm trying to create a plane using Plane Definition > Offset from plane. Once the face I want to offset from is selected, I click on the Plane icon to open up the Plane Definition. I then click the drop down menu and select "Offset from plane". But whenever I do, the face I want to use is deselected and becomes unselectable. What am I doing wrong?

I followed the exact same steps in this video as well:
But it doesn't work when I use the CATProduct file. It DOES work when I make my own CATPart file and create any model with a face, but not with CATProduct. Help?

Also just thought you have to double click the part you want to add the plane to. You cannot be active on one part and pick a plane from a different part. Also, if you pick a surface that ts non planar, you cannot offset a plane from it.

Thanks lardman363! I already made a geometrical set, so I guess the surface was just non planar.
