Catia V5 toolbars

Hello Catia Pro's!
I have another question. Alot of my Catia toolbars are located on the left side of my screen and are vertical. When dragging them out onto my screen they remain vertical and I can't see the toolbar name. How do I make them horizontal?

Drag them to the bottom or to the top of the screen and they will become horizontal.

you can flip the orientation of a toolbar by pressing "Shift" whilst the dragged out toolbar is transparent (active) i.e. when dragging it out of the docking area, press "Shift"--this will flip it from vertical to horizontal or vice versa. Or go with rickyt suggestion... Also, if you have dragged out a toolbar, double click its frame and it will fly back to that latest positioned spot...

When the toolbar is vertical keep pressed left click on it + SHIFT, will become horizontal .

I hate floating toolbars. Above a certain screen size, they become useless and annoying. 27" monitor. All my workbenches and toolbars are locked and packed with icons.

Hi Catia Wizards!

It's me again. I have Catia and Solidworks both pulled up at the same time side by side and my spaceball works in Solidworks but not Catia..... Can anyone tell me why please? It does work in the X, Y and Z directions but it won't Pan and roll. I don't like the compass navigation at all.

Hi Catia peeps!

Another question please. Am I supposed to be able to pan and roll with my spaceball while in a sketch? I have the toolbar and all the commands are activated and I can't move. Did I mention, I dislike Catia navigation? Really frustrating! Former NX user.

Catia de-activates the rotation mode when entering a sketch.
Needs to be re-activated in the 3dx toolbar after entering sketch.

Ok thanks rickyt. I noticed that and turned it back on but it still wouldn't rotate. Is that normal?

Do you have the 3dx driver installed or you use the 3dx built in toolbar in Catia?
If the former, you should check the options, sometimes it's locked default. If the latter, then I can't help because I despise the 3dx toolbar in the software.

Hi Wuzhee,

I have the 3Dconnection driver installed for the spaceball. I am trying also use the 3Dx Device toolbar and I have gone into Tools, Options, Navigation and changed settings there. I've recalibrated the spaceball. It was working better on Friday but today it keeps locking up. This spaceball was just laying around the office. I've requestion a new spaceball. Hopefully that will fix the problem because I'd like to tear my hair out today. I have formal Catia next week so the Catia questions should slow down. I can't wait to feel somewhat comfortable with this CAD software!

Entering the Sketcher the 3dx tb should look like this:

And my 3dx menu for Catia looks like this:

You can zoom in out, move around, but rotation is locked. I've encountered a problem nowadays, when Alt+Tab-ing to a different window the rotation is locked in the model view. Minimizing and full screening Catia solves this, but it's frustrating several times a day.
