Does anybody know what the Area and TNG INT parameter does on a Surf2 CRV-CRV?

It's really buging me as i can't work out why anybody would use then as i get really strange resutls from messing with them, but it must just be me using them wrong.

Thanks in advance.

Darren

In V4;

The AREA paramter allows you to control the cross-sectional area of a closed surface as it is swept. Very useful for air ducts and pipes where the cross section has to vary.

TANGENT INTERSECT is used for conic surfaces. Instead of using two angle directions, the TAN INT curve is used to determine the angles at each end of the conic.

Aren't these options described in the User Guide?

thanks Jackk,

PS. The user guide dosn't open on our machines.

Look around for a paper copy - I thought the little diagrams were great. They show every SURF2 possibility, and really helped me.

Darrude - if you want PDF of this section of the frame viewer docs, just contact me through one of the sites in my signature links. I just happen to have Surf 2 documentation handy.

i think the V4 documentation, like the V5 is (c).

on the V4 DOC CD you can find a windows version of Frameviewer, this will read your V4 doc...

I agree with you that this SURF2 section is REALLY good. Too bad the V5 doc does not include something like that.

Here's some archived stuff from my pre-V5 days, it was passed around on the Catia Circuit years ago (in the UK anyway} amongst surfacers and has been re-copied numerous times. I've said here before that SURF2 and Law hardly changed from Version 1 when I started on it in August 1983. In some ways I miss these old functions (including Transforms with the instant viewable matrix and powerful Combine capability - but that's maybe worth a thread of it's own), if they can be mastered then V5 Surfacing falls into place very easily.

SURF2 Conic and Crv-Crv used the Tangent Intersect 5 and 4 times respectively in their lists of solution options. Here are the front pages of each chapter, if anyone wants any more of this key information I'll be happy to provide it - there's about 30-pages of it covering Surf2 and Law; just request it on here and I'll post the links.

At the bottom are reduced samples of this information, any requested links would be to full-size data.
