CATSOE - how to 1

I have searched for "step-by-step" instructions for using the CATSOE utility in Catia V4.2.4 with no success. Can someone point me to a good source? I really need this one step at a time because I've found NOTHING to give me so much as a clue.

Also, is CATSOE the right utility to use when I am sent a "ditto", or a SOLIDM and need to convert either one to a useable solid format.

Also, would the CATSOE utility be of any use in cleaning up a somewhat messy CATIA V4 model before doing a CATIA-to-UG conversion or using a translator such as the Theorem Solutions CadVerter, or a STEP output translation ?

I am not sure what the CATSOE function is, But I think what you need to do is go into SOLIDE then there is a modify>solid type.

pick your solidm and it will convert it to a solide format.

If you have this solidm as a detail or ditto many places, you may want to go into the detail wsp and modify the type there, before exploding it.

If you have a model with numerous solids in it, CATSOE is probably the faster way to go. In either case, you need to know whether or not the solm's that you are trying to convert are V3 or V4 solids.

1. Input File: type in or select (->) the name of the file that the model is in.

2. Model Option: select "one".

3. Input Model: select (->) the name of the model that you want to convert.

4. Workspace Otion: allow you to select all workspaces, the workspace that was "current" when the model was last filed, or a specific (master or detail) workspace.

5. Solid Type: which type(s) of solids you want to convert.

6. Hit the "yes" button.

7. the command list gives you several options. I would recommend selecting "upgrade contour to V4" (if the original solids were created in V3), "upgrade mock-up solid to exact solid", "smart solid" (if that is what you want the new solids to be), and "solid update".

8. Output file: you can output into the same file or another.

9. You can choose to replace (overwrite) the original model, or output to a different model name.

10. Input index size and data size that are larger than the model you are processing and larger that you might expect the new, solide model to be.

11. Hit "yes" to execute.

As to the second part of your question, I do not do enough model conversion to know if this would help or not.
