Hi,

I am building a piece of equipment that will have a particular component that requires power (230 VAC single phase). I would like to run a flexible power cord (with two current carrying conductors plus a ground) from this component to a junction box that will connect it to the power source. I would do my best to route the power cord in a way that would keep it as hidden and out-of-the-way as possible, but it would be visible and exposed (not in a enclosure or in a conduit).

I have done this type of thing many times in the USA using standard rubber-covered cable. The exact part that I bought last time was described as "#14 AWG SJOOW portable cord" for which the specs listed "UL (E46194)" and "CSA (90458)" under agency approvals.

This particular piece of equipment will be going to Europe (Greece). CE is not an absolute requirement because rather than being a new / standalone piece of equipment, this will be a small add-on module that will enhance the functionality of an existing piece of equipment that is not CE marked itself, but "grand-fathered in".

This being said, I would like to be as "CE compliant" as possible. I did some searching to see if I could find a rubber covered cable (without a shield) like the one I mentioned above but with a CE mark. I had no luck.

I am wondering if anyone here can tell me if the use of this type of cord in Europe is not generally accepted. If it is not generally accepted in Europe, I am wondering if you can suggest an alternate type of cable that I should be looking for.

Thanks in advance,
Paul
