I have a certifcate for ASME VIII, 1 Shop manufacturing. I would like to do also some field work. What do I have to do? Change the manual and have a new joint review?

First discuss with your AIA. You will then be required to amend your Quality Manual accordingly and apply to the ASME for a change to your U Certificate.

I agree with stanweld,

I found the attachment here at the ASME Committee Website:

This is the ASME Conformity Assesment Procedure for conduct regarding ASME SURVEYS, REVIEWS, AUDITS, INVESTIGATIONS AND INTERVIEWS.

In the attachment, go to page 21 to read the policy for a "scope change" or "scope expansion".

There are three kinds of people in this world; those who can Google and those who can't.

See Page 22 "of the document" which is the same as page 24 "of the file"

Thanks to both of you (no thanks for the remark concerning google).
So another audit seems to be necessary. I will have to wait two years.

Again, discuss your plans with your AIA. They will provide the appropriate direction; that is their job. They will direct you to the appropriate persons at the ASME. The audit may only be required to be done by your AIA representative - not a full Joint Review.

Obviously, the cleanest way is to amend your certificates for both Shop and Field in the Scope of your Quality Manual and add any other controlling features specific to field work when renewing your current Certificate during the the Joint Review audit process.

There is no harm in asking your AIA to help you out on this.

Regarding my signature line, I think you underestimate the powere of Google. But everyone has their preferences.
