Change Default Lights - NOT Locked to Model 1

The first thing I do on every new model is to edit the light settings to toggle OFF the "lock to model" option. To me, this is absurd. Why would I want the lights in the room to move with the model? This means that the "dark side" is always the dark side. Just seems utter nonsense to me.

BUT...I cannot find a way to set it to default that all new models have this option toggled off. Any one know if this is possible?

I even tried to create a macro to cycle through editing each light and toggling the option off but it doesn't seem to work very reliably.

Thanks in advance.

Start a new part. Edit the lights. Save as part template (.prtdot). Use this template when starting new parts.

Ok thanks for the tips (handleman).

SBaugh, I am too busy designing products to be so interested in watching all the online tutorials just to try and fix a mere annoyance. Hence why asking people that use the software for a quick tip...(you know, that thing forum's actually exist for). Thanks anyway.

No need to be rude, I understand the purpose of forums. I have been using SW for quite a long time and it's always recommended that you at least do the Online tutorials. It's not watching videos it is you reading the article and then you use the software to teach yourself the basics.

Probably the reason you are taking so long to make your designs is that you battling your way through the software. If you would take the time to learn some of the basics, maybe you would not be battling with the software and would have more free time. On top of that if you are battling through the software you are probably making some mistakes that when you have to make a change it will take even longer fixing the problem(s) than if you knew the basics within SW.

If you have a laptop you can take it home and try it out in the evenings. If you have a desktop at the office take some time out of your busy day to teach yourself something new.

That's my $.02.
