During my analysis, i need to change material of a certain set. As i did so using field and changed field in the next step of this set to be =2,i figured out that density doesnot change (from the manual Density can be defined as a function of temperature and field variables; however, for all elements except acoustic elements the density is a function of the initial values of temperature and field variables and changes in volume only. It will not be updated if temperatures and field variables change during the analysis) so is there a way to change the material with its density during the analysis?
thats is how i identified the field
*Density, dependencies=1
2., ,1.
1.4, ,2.
*initial conditions, type=field
all,1
step 2
*field, variable=2
set-1,2

you can maybe try to use mass scaling which allows you to modify the density during the step. By this way, you would only be able to change the density at the beginning of the step i think.

Try to read help about *MASS SCALING
