I assume that you are using AutoCAD 2000.

Although this would not be my first choice, you can change the lineweights. You can do this at the layer level, or by selecting individual entities. Then, when you plot, uncheck the 'Plot with plot styles' option and check the 'Plot object lineweights' option. These options are located in the Plot Options section of the Plot Settings tab.

A better choice would be to plot in Grayscale. You will have to make sure that your object entities are darker (black/white, blue, red) and your dimensions, centerlines, and hidden lines are lighter (yellow, green ...). Then, just load the Grayscale plotstyle and print. This automatically lightens/darkens your entities based on layer color. I have come across another user that did not have this plot style. If this is the case, let me know and I will send it to you.

Hope this helps! DimensionalSolutions@Core.com

Thankyou very much dsi, I'm actually using autocad r14, and am having a few difficulties as it's been a while. I think i'll take your advice and plot in greyscale!
Cheers Matt

Use "Pen Asinments" in Plot Dialog Box to define the width each used colour should be ploted.
I'm not very fond of idea of using grayscale.

As the matter of fact, I'm not sure I understand your question. What is the width of your dimension line? Aren't all the lines of the same width (suppose you don't change object's line width)?

Anyway, hope that "Pen Assinments" will solve your problem.

cheers

Pen Assignments are definitely the way to go. Try separating the major types of entities onto individual layers (i.e. part edges on layer "Part", hidden lines on layer "Hidden", dimensions on layer "Dim" etc.) and give each layer a unique color. Modify the pen width associated with each color to get the line weight you need.
