Hi

We are using Nx 7.5. We are doing a lot of assemblies, which are later reused. The problem is when for example I'm using screw form reuse library, and it's saving on "C:\Program Files\Common Files\UGS\Reuse Library" path. When we are openning this assembly from another computer the screw isn't loaded, becaouse Nx is searching in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\UGS\Reuse Library" directory but on the other computer. So we want to set options to saving and loading all reuse library in diffrent folder for example "N:\reuse library" on our server. Where I can change this path?

thanks

Recommended for you

Goto File - Utilities - Customer Defaults.
Then Gateway - Reuse Library - Part Name Definition.
In the middle of the screen you will see Native NX change the Windows folder path to desired path name.
Do this on site level so this will affect every user.

Michaël.

Sorry I didn't mention, but we have 3 licences on 3 computers, and we want to have one folder on server that is used for all standarized files (like screws, pins, etc). I found a way to use reuse library from diffrent directory (so we can use one on all computers from server). About Native Nx I changed it earlier, but still Nx is saving, and loading files from reuse library (screws, pins, etc.) in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\UGS\Reuse Library", so its not this. Maybe I should change this path in some config file?

If you're working with teamcenter please note following guidelines from the help file of NX.

In Teamcenter Integration, it is preferable to use Teamcenter classification and classification groups to organize and access reusable objects, but you can also store the libraries in Teamcenter folders.

To access folder libraries from Teamcenter, you must install Teamcenter 2005 SR1 version or later.

To access Teamcenter classifications from the Reuse Library, you must install Teamcenter 2007 version or later.

If not working with teamcenter, make sure every user (computer) points out to the same network share in NX.

We aren't using Teamcenter. Yes I know that we must use the same network, but the main problem is how, and where we must change "C:\Program Files\Common Files\UGS\Reuse Library" directory to another (like I said Nx is saving and loading reuse library files there, and it isn't Native Nx in Utilities - Customer Defaults - Gateway - Reuse Library - Part Name Definition, becaouse its changed, but files are stil saved and loaded from "C:\Program Files\Common Files\UGS\Reuse Library").

Look at the tab left of Part Name Definition, its General and there's also the path to library files. Normally it stated $UGII_BASE_DIR/nxparts/Reuse Labrary.
Change this to the network path.

I changed this too, and in Fastener Assembly, and in 2D Section Library. I don't know only where leads UDFs|$UGII_ROOT_DIR/udf/resource in UDF library. So the main problem must be somwhere else.

Also, don't forget that changes in customer defaults will not take effect until you close down and restart NX.

Yes I know, Nx always is saying that on every change. And I did it on every change. And still nothing.

What assembly load options are you using? If "as saved", you might want to move or rename your current "C:\Program Files\Common Files\UGS\Reuse Library" folder and when you get errors, point the assembly to your new location. Changes to the customer defaults affects new files (those created after the change, with a few exceptions), you'll have to do some 'manual intervention' with existing files.

Yes I'm using option "as saved". I tried to delete files from "C:\Program Files\Common Files\UGS\Reuse Library" and there where errors, then I moved them to folder where I need them to be (which is pointed in customer default) and there where errors to. I even added new components from reuse library to see where they saved, but its always the same directory. So You are saying that maybe in new assembly this wolud work, I must look at this. And I must say that in all changes I did there wasn't path "C:\Program Files\Common Files\UGS\Reuse Library" so I'm guesing that this must be somwhere deeper, maybe in some file in UGS directory.

Use a search path which has an entry for the reuse library folder. As Saved will only load files from the folder that they were in when the assembly was created.
