Our company has just switched over to Pro/E. We are looking for a config to change the start template for EFX parts to the one that we have setup for all other parts. Does anyone have any solutions?

Thanks!

Hi epgasser,

There is a chapter in the EFX admin guide how to do this.

Stefan

PS: I am from the company who develops EFX for PTC

Thanks Stefan!

I am not sure if we have this EFX admin guide. Do you have or know of a site that has an electronic copy of this guide?

Thanks again for your help!

Hi engpasser,

it is available with the menu picks EFX 4.0 -> Info -> open adminisitrators guide
or you can open it with Internet Explorer from
<efx_install_dir>/docu/<your_language>/admin/start.htm

Stefan,

I recently have bought EFX - I have a problem getting it to run : followed the guidance in the admin manual, get the EFX icons in ProE, but they don't work. I get a message when I hover over icons - "Mapkey "xxx" is not currently defined in this session"
PTC Support so far haven't offered an solutin neither has PTC re-seller: perhaps you could suggest what may be wrong (please)

It sounds like the EFX installation did not copy over the config.pro files into your startup folder.
Try searching the disk for a config.pro file and then copy that into the folder where Pro/E starts, or append the mapkey definitions to your existing config.pro file.

Thanks for suggestion 'jkgvnr' - I had tried all this, even had PTC support stuck for a while. The problem appeared to be licence related, but we couldn't see why.

My big problem was McAfee (Internet security suite which includes firewall etc.) : uninstalled McAfee, uninstalled PrOe stuff, then did clean re-install of ProE stuff - result, but I now need to review my security provisions.
