Hello Hydro Types:

Has anyone used the program "River Cad"? We are using Microstation In-Roads to model channels with templates. It works, but is there a program like say River Cad for example that might be more suited to strictly channel work? Any other programs that can be used to model channels and generate volumes? River Cad is sold by the BOSS company on the web.

Thanks.

It looks like RiverCAD is just a GIS wrapper for HEC-RAS. You can export cross-sections out of Microstation and import them into HEC-RAS directly. HEC-RAS is a free download from the USACE.

Inroads will allow export of xsecs to HECRAS as well. You do need to have a dtm. I like inroads because you can model the improvements to the channels and get you excavation volumes easily.
