Characteristic length of tetrahedral element

Hi, i wanted to find displacement due to failure. The characteristic length of a hexahedral element is the cube root of L*W*H.

Can someone tell me what the characteristic length of a tetrahedral element will be?

The characteristic length used in damage models in Abaqus is defined this way (from the documentation):

it is a typical length of a line across an element for a first-order element; it is half of the same typical length for a second-order element
